After the success of the past edition, FOTOGRAFIA – International Festival of Rome invited artists aged under 40 years and of all nationalities, who use the medium of photography, to participate in the 5th edition of the Open Call.
The theme of this year’s Open Call is associated with the theme of the 15th edition of the Festival: Roma, il mondo.
FOTOGRAFIA has always made of the relationship with the city one of the most characteristic features of his established history of fifteen years. The second edition of the festival was dedicated to Rome and to his community and it was during that same year which was established the Rome Commission, inaugurated with Josef Koudelka, the first of the great photographers that have followed for the next fourteen years.
Rome, today more than yesterday, is the symbol of the Italian socio-cultural situation. One looks at the city and its events trying to draw a prediction that can be extended to the rest of the territory. We want to take advantage of this fifteenth edition – in human terms would coincide with adolescence, for a festival however is the expression of an extraordinary longevity – to turn back to the city our eyes, returning to Rome our center of gravity, and discover how the reading of this complex city can help us understand the world around us.
The selected projects will be shown in a slideshow within the MACRO – Museum of Contemporary Art of Rome from 6 December 2016 until 8 January 2017 and will be mentioned on the site where a special section will be dedicated to the winner.
Registration will be open from Monday, October 31, 2016 until Monday, November 28, 2016. The results will be published Friday, December 2, 2016 on the Festival website (fotografiafestival.it).
